Jim Lauderdale's music veers in many directions, but his Grammy successes have come in the bluegrass category. Lauderdale has won bluegrass Grammys . . . Pines, a collaboration with the legendary Ralph Stanley. He's up for a best bluegrass album Grammy this year for his Could We Get Any Closer? album.

In ways that extend beyond simply performing and recording music, 2009 was one of the best years in Jim Lauderdale’s 20-year career. Sure, he was . . . Grammy. Of course, Lauderdale is up for his own Grammy as well, in the Best Bluegrass Album category for his 2009 release Could We Get Any Closer?

In 2008, Jim Lauderdale took home the prestigious Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album with The Bluegrass Diaries, which was produced, engineered, and . . . the combination is still a hit as they have been honored, once again, with a Grammy nomination in the same category for the coming 2010 awards.
