On September 7, bluegrass legend Peter Rowan  will release his Compass Records debut, Legacy. Joining him on the album are genre giants Del McCoury . . . Good”). Rowan, a Grammy winning singer-songwriter, played guitar and sang vocals for the father of bluegrass music, Bill Monroe, in the mid ’60s.

Bluegrass music legend Del McCoury was in Cumberland this week to personally distribute checks to charities benefiting from his annual festival held . . . and Legal Aid. The festival began in 2008 and each year much of the proceeds have been distributed to a number of local charitable organizations.

Born February 1, 1939 in Bakersville North Carolina Del McCoury has influenced many Performers, notably the Phish, Donna the Buffalo, and the String . . . him to guitar and Lead Singer, where McCoury received a life time of hands-on tutelage from the Father of Bluegrass in a little more than a year.
